There are many different types of sports, including Olympic sports, professional sports, high school sports, youth sports, college sports, and recreational sports. One major difference between these different sports is the level of physical fitness required. While other types require very little physical fitness, professional sports require a high degree of physical fitness. Many of these professional sports require specific equipment, specialized training, and a great deal of skill. Because of this, professional sports require a great deal of dedication, skill, and conditioning. These conditions are what make professional sports one of the most physically demanding sports in existence.

Youth and recreational sports also require much less physical activity and require a lot more skill. Many youth and recreational sports such as American football, soccer, baseball, basketball, softball, and lacrosse do not require a great deal of skill but do require the ability to count, analyze, and recall while participating in the sport. In contrast, professional sports require skills in order to excel at the game. Some of these skills required during play include kicking, passing, defense, and shooting.

There are numerous professional sports throughout the world that require athletes to wear protective equipment including protective head gear, knee pads, elbow pads, and shin guards. To be classified as a professional sports athlete, an athlete must display the necessary skill, determination, and physical fitness needed to engage in the sport. There are many professional sports governing bodies that set rules and regulations for athletic events. These governing bodies help to ensure that athletes abide by the rules of the sport and help to ensure that the sport remains a fun and safe activity for all.
